GOTECH 2026 closes in Dubai with AI and operational efficiency at centre of energy agenda
The Dubai conference drew 2,600 participants from 70 countries and highlighted how digital technologies are being applied across oil and gas operations.

GOTECH 2026 concluded at Dubai World Trade Centre on 2 October after three days of technical sessions and energy-sector discussions, according to Emirates News Agency. The event was hosted by Dragon Oil in collaboration with the Society of Petroleum Engineers under the theme “Energising the Future through Leadership, Innovation, Sustainability, AI, and Talent.”
WAM reported that the conference attracted more than 2,600 participants representing 1,206 companies from 70 countries, with 40 exhibitors and 11 sponsors. It received around 1,300 technical papers, of which 250 were selected for presentation across 52 specialised sessions.
The significance for UAE business is the emphasis on applied technology rather than abstract digital transformation. The programme covered artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital transformation, well integrity, sustainable well design, water injection, reservoir analysis, carbon dioxide leakage monitoring and operational optimisation. The final day included AI applications for shutdown optimisation, geothermal prediction, gas-well obstruction detection, internal valve leakage identification and equipment-failure diagnostics.
For the UAE energy economy, this reinforces a dual-track strategy: hydrocarbons remain operationally important, but competitiveness increasingly depends on data, AI, sustainability controls and specialised talent. The participation of companies, researchers and students also points to a broader industrial ecosystem around energy technology and engineering services.
The commercial takeaway is that AI in energy is moving into operational workflows where downtime, maintenance accuracy, reservoir performance and emissions monitoring have direct cost implications. Dubai’s role as host keeps the UAE in the regional conversation on how energy companies deploy advanced technologies while managing sustainability and efficiency pressures.
Why It Matters
The conference shows how AI and digital tools are becoming operational priorities in the energy sector, with implications for UAE technology vendors, engineers and industrial finance.
