UAE Investment Majlis Puts Smart Logistics and Supply Chains on Capital Agenda

The inaugural investment gathering focused on multimodal transport, digital trade, infrastructure and AI-enabled logistics as the UAE promotes resilient global supply chains.

The UAE has placed resilient supply chains and smart logistics at the centre of a new international investment dialogue as it seeks to connect global capital with infrastructure, trade and technology opportunities.

The inaugural UAE Investment Majlis was held in New York on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly and jointly hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Investment. The gathering brought together senior government officials, investors, business executives, global decision-makers and thought leaders.

The 2026 edition was organised under the theme ‘Resilient Supply Chains and Smart Logistics’. Discussions covered multimodal transportation, infrastructure, digital trade, artificial intelligence-enabled logistics, trade facilitation, ports and logistics hubs.

The choice of theme reflects the UAE’s established role as a trade and transport hub linking Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. The country has invested heavily in ports, airports, free zones, logistics infrastructure and digital government systems, while UAE-based companies operate transport and logistics assets internationally.

Supply-chain resilience has also become a more prominent investment issue globally. Businesses have faced disruptions arising from geopolitical tensions, shipping constraints, changing trade policies and shifts in manufacturing strategies. That has increased attention on diversified sourcing, alternative transport corridors, inventory management and the use of technology to improve visibility across supply chains.

AI adds another dimension. Logistics businesses can use data and machine learning for demand forecasting, routing, warehouse management and asset utilisation. Digital trade systems can also reduce paperwork and improve coordination among ports, customs authorities, freight operators and businesses.

For investors, the opportunity extends beyond physical infrastructure. Capital can be deployed across warehouses, industrial zones, ports, freight technology, supply-chain software, automation and businesses supporting cross-border commerce. The UAE’s strategy combines those physical and digital layers, positioning logistics as part of a wider economic-diversification agenda.

The Investment Majlis format is also notable. Rather than announcing a single transaction, the gathering was designed as a platform for dialogue around strategic investment priorities. That can help government entities understand investor requirements while giving international capital providers greater visibility into the sectors the UAE is seeking to develop.

The commercial impact will ultimately depend on projects and investments that follow such discussions. But the inaugural Majlis makes clear that logistics is being treated as more than an operational industry. It is increasingly viewed as strategic economic infrastructure—one that affects trade competitiveness, food and industrial supply chains, manufacturing decisions and the ability of companies to reach global markets.

For the UAE, strengthening that position could reinforce its role not only as a destination for capital but as a platform through which international businesses organise regional and global trade.

Why It Matters

Logistics infrastructure underpins the UAE's trade model and increasingly attracts capital across ports, warehouses, industrial zones and technology. AI-enabled logistics also creates investment opportunities beyond traditional transport assets.
